The Importance of a Mobile Sales Ready Site

If you have a website and notice that you are not converting leads, one of the first things you need to check is how well your mobile site is optimized, and if it’s sales ready. The easiest way to see your mobile site is to go to your site using your smart phone. There’s also many add-ons you can use on chrome and Firefox if you want to see how your site will look like on different mobile phones. If you notice it’s hard to navigate your site and your contact info is hard to see or find, you will need to optimize your site.

How Google sees mobile sites

According to a study done by Google in 2017, over 50% of all searches are done using a mobile device. Another significant statistic in the study is that over 72% of searches for food & beverages are done using a mobile device.  The math is simple if more people are searching on a mobile device more sales and conversion will be done on a mobile site.

Since more users are using mobile devices to browse the internet Google has made mobile optimization a priority and uses mobile usability as a factor to rank your site on their search engines. So, if your site is not optimized for mobile devices it will be hurting your rank.

What is mobile optimization?

Mobile devices have smaller screens therefore content needs to be displayed differently. CSS is a code language that dictates how your website will be presented. CSS will be written by a web developer to modify your content that is on your site and organizes it in a way that will flow on mobile devices. Some examples of changes are menus, picture size, and order of content. One of the goals of mobile optimization is to eliminate the use of pinching and zooming and to make every page easy to navigate. One important note is that this is not a DIY project and should be done by a web developer unless you want to learn coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, which are all used to optimize web pages for mobile devices.

How do I make my mobile site sales ready?

Sales ready means, your web site makes it easy to contact you, or purchase your product/service. If you offer a service, you would want your site to have phone number visible and clickable, so it dials to your phone. Also, the ability to submit a quote request via a contact form. One of these should be visible at all times while the user is browsing the site.  A new trend is to have a mobile call button that sticks to the bottom of your website at all times and when it is clicked it opens the phone app with your number dialed. It makes getting your service easier and increases conversions.
